When we first moved in, this place was our never home. I don’t think there was one thing that Christy liked about it. But over time, we’ve changed it and made it our own.
The walls were dingy and covered in finger prints. The dark blue carpet was yellow with cat piss (sounds unbelievable, but it’s true). The people that owned it had never heard of a door stop so every room had a hole in it from the door handle. It was a real shit show.
We’ve done about everything to this place, which is why it makes it harder to leave it. We’ve made it our own. When we put our house on the market a few years ago, every house we saw just didn’t compare. It wasn’t just “I don’t like the color of these walls” that you hear the people on HGTV say, which I always think is stupid because you can easily change the cosmetics. It’s the way the rooms are set up. It’s the hardwood floors we put throughout. It’s every little thing we’ve poured into this place over the last 14 years.
The last piece of this house that we haven’t touched is the kitchen. If you’ve been following any of our posts on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, you’ve seen some of the progress we’ve made.
It’s not a quick process by any means because we are doing a lot of the work ourselves and we only have so much time to do it. We should be complete in the next 2 months, but after that is done, it’s going to be hard to find another home that fits us like this one does. If it wasn’t for the neighborhood, this would be the perfect place for us.
