Remember a few months ago when I struggled to make a decision regarding our flooring? Well, my indecisive nature has reared it’s ugly head again. This time I am struggling to select bar stools for our new peninsula.
With Covid-19 numbers skyrocketing in our area, I have been trying to shop exclusively online. The internet is an amazing place, with waaaaaay too many options. I have changed my mind no less than 25 times. It is exhausting trying to narrow down a color and style to fit our new space.
Through all of my indecisiveness, I was pretty firm on my decision to purchase backless stools. Visually, I thought it would make the space look cleaner. Then my cousin (who also has seating at a peninsula) strongly encouraged me to get something with a back. She insisted that I needed them for comfort and safety. That opened up a whole new can of worms!
Here are some of my favorites over the past few weeks. As you can see, I have been all over the place with style…
Since I was having so much trouble making a decision, John and I decided to go to a home decor store last Sunday. Although I didn’t find any bar stools I loved, the shopping trip did help me realize what features I really want for our stools.
1. I don’t want anything with a high back. The stools needs to be invisible when tucked under the counter.
2. I really want something with metal legs. We already have walnut stained shiplap around the peninsula. I don’t want a competing wood tone on the legs of the stools.
3. I want a swivel seat. At first I was trying to steer clear of the swivel seats, because we have FIVE children. My gut told me one of the kids would break the seat. But the more I think about it, the more I like the swivel feature. I think we will end up moving the chairs less frequently if we can just swivel to the side to get up and down.
Wish me luck as I continue to scour the internet in search of the perfect bar stool.
