As I’ve mentioned a million times, we are in the middle of a DIY kitchen remodel. Although it’s been going fairly well, the stress level in our house has been running high for weeks. I go to sleep thinking about the kitchen, and I wake up thinking about the kitchen. John doesn’t even sleep anymore. He just thinks about the kitchen day and night. It truly has consumed our lives!
Fortunately, we have reached a turning point in the project. Things are finally starting to happen! Exciting things – like the installation of the flooring, granite, and backsplash! Although we’ve done everything ourselves up until this point in our DIY kitchen remodel, we are coordinating with various contractors to get these 3 big projects completed. Although these upcoming installations are easier because someone else is doing the work, they are still stressful for me because I have to keep 5 children out of the way while they work. It’s times like these when I wish I could just run away with the kids and return when it’s all done.
Even with all these new and exciting developments, we still have many loose ends to tie up. We need to paint the cabinet doors, install all of the trim, mount the new hardware, hang the lights, etc, etc, etc. The list just seems to go on and on. However, the madness has to end eventually. For our sanity, WE NEED THIS PROJECT TO END! So, John and I have set a goal to help us complete this massive project in the coming weeks. Our goal date is Thanksgiving. That sounds like a lot of time, but it’s going to be hard to finish everything by the end of November. It’s going to be a ton of work for my poor husband. Fingers crossed that we can get it all done in a mere 3 weeks.
Just for fun, here is a picture of the granite we selected for our countertops. We LOVE it and can’t wait to see it installed in our fancy new kitchen! We’ve never had real stone counters before. It definitely feels like a luxury.
