Here is our retirement fund update for August. I’m pretty happy to see how the market has been doing lately.
Prior to COVID-19, our rate of return on my work 401k was around 17%. During the low of COVID, it got down to 4%. As of today, our rate of return on that account is at 23% and we’ve had over $12,000 in gains over the last 10 months.
I’ve heard the stock market referred to as a roller coaster many times in my life. It does have it’s ups and downs, but the feelings during those ups and downs are the exact opposite.
For me, the most nerve racking thing on a roller coaster is climbing up that first hill. Seeing the safety of the ground getting further and further away makes me pucker up a bit. But once you get over that peak, that’s when the fun begins.
With investing, I’m completely satisfied with that climb and don’t look forward to any of the drops that are bound to follow it.
Here is where we stand as of today.
Investment | Deposit | Balance | Growth |
Work 401k | $935 | $72,729 | $2,656 |
Roth IRA’s | $500 | $3,497 | $97 |
