Not much to say this month (you’re welcome) except that we need to tighten our belt back up. Our Savings account is going in the wrong direction.
This month in savings we saved our normal $500 and earned $3.05 in interest, but we transferred $4,250 to pay off our credit card.
We were browsing for bedroom furniture last month and found a set that will work out perfect for us at Ashley Furniture.
We have been living for the last 20 years with massive bedroom furniture that looks like something out of Conan The Barbarian. It didn’t fit in our old house and it REALLY doesn’t fit in this house.
We have to turn my side table sideways and butt the bed up to it, making the drawers inaccessible, to give enough room on the other side to open the armoire. Even then, one of the doors doesn’t open all the way and hits the foot board post. This set up also gives me little room to get into bed. I have to turn sideways and sidestep my way to sleepy town.
We should have gotten new bedroom furniture 16 years ago when we moved in, but we made due. We got a bed, 2 side tables, and a dresser with a mirror. This time we were smart. We measured all of the pieces and everything will fit perfectly. We’ll even get 1.5′ back at the end of our bed because we won’t have 12″ wide posts. That and the fact that we won’t have that looming 77″ tall armoire, our room is going to feel very spacious.
We are excited to get our new furniture, but due to the world being absolutely crazy lately, the bed frame is on back order until September. At least we are getting the payment out of the way.
We could have done financing, but I didn’t want a bill hanging over our heads for the next 60 months. Instead we can take what we would have paid on the furniture and start putting that in savings each month and pay ourselves back.
The other expense we had is, I bought Christy a Google Pixel 6 for Mother’s Day. Her phone was never the best, but lately it has been shutting down on a full battery when she’s performing basic tasks, so I ordered it and gave it to her early.
Huh. Look at that. I did have a lot to say. Sorry reader.
In vacation we saved our normal $300 and earned .70 cents.
