The 2020/2021 school year was not very exciting for my children. Most of our homeschool activities were cancelled due to the pandemic. It made for an underwhelming experience. We tried to make the most of it, but it wasn’t our best year. Fortunately, most of the activities in our area are resuming this fall. We are so excited to rejoin the homeschool world! We want to do ALL THE THINGS!
We have already signed up for a full schedule of activities – swim, band, choir, tennis, parkour, and art. I am also looking into a homeschool chapter of Key Club for my daughter. My kids are so excited to finally get out of the house and interact with people again!
The activity we are most excited about this year is homeschool band. We have never participated in band before, but I thought this would be a great experience for our older children. Last week we took the kids to a local music store to pick out instruments. Our oldest daughter chose the clarinet and our oldest son chose the trombone. The cost to rent the instruments was very reasonable – only $29.99 (per instrument) for 4 months. This will allow our kids enough time to see if they enjoy playing their chosen instrument. If they love it, we’ll purchase it. If they don’t love it, we’re only out $30.
I know that the pandemic is still raging. I know that we need to take precautions before mingling in group settings. I know that our activities could potentially be cancelled due to Covid. But it feels so good to have options again. We can’t wait to rejoin the homeschool world!
