This month in Savings we saved our normal $500 and earned $5.04 in interest. We recently bought our oldest daughter new bedroom furniture. We purchased it on a 6 month no interest / no payment plan to spread out the cost.
We can only afford to pay $200 a month on it and the rest will have to come out of savings. The good news is, we are already at a point that when we do, our savings will still be above $20,000. Pending any other situations that may cause us to draw on it, of course.
In Vacation we saved our normal $200 and earned a whopping .85¢ in interest. My hope is that I receive an increase this year at my annual review and we can start saving more for vacation.
Currently we are only saving enough for regional budget vacations. Christy and I would really like to have enough in there to fly the kids across the country and visit the Grand Canyon and other national parks in the next few years. At the current rate, that would mean skipping vacation for at least one year to build up the extra funds. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
